waiting for AF

I just started taking Alesse this past month. It's my first time taking OC. I was extremely careful to take every pill at the same time all month.
However, now I'm on day six of my next pack and AF still hasn't showed up. Plenty of PMS symptoms, including migrane and cramps. I always got AF late before, around 30-33 days. So, what I feel like now is that I'm stuck in PMS, like the active pills might have kicked in before my slow body had gotten around to AF.
How common is it to have a missed period your first month on OC? It seems like from what I've read on the message board, more people see extra bleeding instead of less.
I started taking this in part to reduce PMS symptoms, and to make my cycle more predictable, but it seems like I've done the opposite.
Thanks for any help.

It will take 3 or 4 cycles for your body to adjust to your pills so your body is still sorting out how to act and when with the hormones you are adding to it. I don't remember another new user member saying that she skipped her period on the first cycle but it certainly can happen. We are all different so it isn't surprising. If, after 4 cycles Alesse doesn't regulate your cycles and reduce PMS then talk to your doctor about a pill change. Let us know how you are doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
