Could it be possible?

I had sex today with my boyfriend and the condom broke. :o(

I start my period no later than Saturday.

Could I still get pregnant?

And if I could...

I would take the morning after pill. How does that work? Do you just go in and they give you the prescription/pill or is there an exam?

I am so confused.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi utgal2006, welcome!

If you are cycling naturally then there is a chance that you could get pg. Ovulation can sometimes be delayed due to illness, stress etc so unless you are charting your fertile signs (basal body temp., cervical fluid and cervical position) you won’t know for sure when you are fertile and ovulate. EC is most effective during the first 72 hours after the event so you need to act right away. This is from the (EC pill) Plan B site: http://www.go2planb.com/ “Plan B is believed to act as an emergency contraceptive principally by preventing ovulation or fertilization (by altering tubal transport of sperm and/or ova). In addition, it may inhibit implantation (by altering the endometrium). It is not effective once the process of implantation has begun.”

It depends where you are as to how readily available EC is. There are a few locations in the U.S. and Canada where it can be easily obtained but in most places it requires a prescription. If I were you I would ask my doctor for EC or get it from a Planned Parenthood clinic near you. The PP clinic locator is: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/Zip.htm There is a lot of good information on the EC site at: http://ec.princeton.edu/ Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Good luck,

Try not to stress yourself out (i know, not very helpful advice), but stress can delay your period like dancer said....

are you on any other BC besides just using condoms? If yes, then you're probably fine, but if not the EC might be a good option.

My friend used it once in a similar situation to yours and was very happy with it.

I'd start by maybe calling your doctor. If they can perscribe it to you, they should be able to call it right in to a pharmacy so you don't have to go to the doctor.

Anyway, i hope you're ok.

Good luck!
