a few weeks ago i realized the week i was gonna be on my period would be the time i was gonna finally get to see my long-distance boyfriend. i tried to skip my period by going straight to the new pack of pills and skipping the placebo pills. during the first week after doing this i had light bleeding all week. the second week i had heavy bleeding. and now the third week i have like a light pinkish discharge. is this normal or should i go see my doctor?

Hi mandy0106, welcome!

Many woman can go back-to-back with their pills and not have problems. It depends on the woman and the pill she's on. You are more likely to be successful using a monophasic pill (one that has the same dosage of hormones in each of the active pills) than on a bi or triphasic pill (that has 2 or 3 different dosages of hormones in the active pills). It also has to do with how long you have been on a particular pill. If you are on the first few cycles of a new pill your body may not have completely adjusted to the new hormones and you are less likely to successfully skip. If you want to skip often then you might ask your doc about a different pill. I think you are probably ok but you might want to let your doc. know what's going on.

Good luck,

Same thing happened to me. I skipped my period by going to the new pack, the doctor told me this was fine to do but she warned me about breakthrough bleeding. The first week I was fine (yay!) but now I have had light bleeding for the last two week! (booo!) I am now reaching my period week, so I too hope it ends! You are fine, but if you feel the need, call your doctor just to let her know.
