I need some advice. I posted a few days back about my situation (thanks for the reply, Jill!), but I've just gotten the paranoia attack...it's a little complicated to explain, but this is the problem:
Last month, I started my pill pack late (about 10 hours late, the first pill). I took every pill after that one on time, and used condoms all month just in case. THIS month, I've been on time with every pill. However, on the 5th and 6th days after starting THIS pack I had sex without condoms. He pulled out, but I know that that technically doesn't really count for much in terms of extra protection. I felt OK about it at the time, but 4 days LATER I got an upset stomach (diarrhea). I started using condoms again, of course, but I still have these questions: was there enough time between the condomless sex and the upset stomach to still be safe? I mean, sperm isn't supposed to be able to survive 4 days given the hostile conditions the pill creates in one's body, right?
The first pill of my PREVIOUS pack was late, NOT the current pack, but should I still have waited until the 7th day of my current pack? (I'm asking it and it sounds absurd, that you would need back-up for so long after just one late pill at the beginning of LAST month, but I'd really like to make sure).
I still have a week to go before I can expect my period, and it seems like forever. Please, some advice and/or reassurance? Thanks; I really love your board.

You should be fine! In unfertile conditions sperm can survive in the vagina for only a few hours. You are right, if you had a period after your last pack then whatever happened, as far as pill taking is concerned, at the first of that pack should not affect your current protection. Remember, diarrhea can affect your protection if it was within 2 hours after you took your pill. There was no need to use back-up for the first 7 days of actives in this pack but when in doubt back-up never hurts, right? Try to relax, I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
Good luck,
Jill
I think i remember your original posting- sounds like you are taking all the proper precautions and are probably stressing yourself for no reason.
But why not take a test just to put your mind at ease??
Knowing is better than not knowing right?
Hope you're ok!
Good luck.
