Why do I have ovul. spotting w/ TUBAL?

I dont know if I am in the right place, thought I would see if there are any good thoughts on this one!

I had a tubal done a couple days after #4 child was born in Oct 03. The last 2 cycles and one awhile ago, I had some blood tinging (sorry TMI!) in my CM during ovulation time (yes I still feel ovulation pretty good!).

What would cause this?

thanks!

Hi Dawn, welcome!

That is a really good question to ask your doctor! I don’t know why you were seeing blood in your cm during Ov time, unless a tube has opened. That is very rare but it does happen. Or perhaps it was a coincidence, or some sort of sympathetic bleeding is going on. Do you remember if the Ov pain was on the same side each time you saw the blood? You can post your question on the iVillage Gynecology board http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhgynconcern and see if the ladies there are familiar with your problem. If I were you I’d talk with my doc and have it checked out. Let us know what s/he says, ok?

Good luck,

Ovulation spotting is usually caused by bleeding from the uterus, not the ovary. As estrogen levels rise following menstruation, the uterine lining builds up. Estrogen levels reach a peak and then drop sharply just before ovulation. This drop in estrogen can cause some of the lining to leak a small amount of blood. It is quite normal and common for many women. I experience ovulation spotting almost every cycle. It is also quite common to develop new patterns in your cycle as you age. I didn't start spotting midcycle until after I had my daughter.

Jill,

Thank you so much for your ideas. I posted the question withthe same thoughts as you. But the next poster said it was just uterine lining.

So I guess I wont worry!

And here I thought while TTC that if I had Ovulation spotting it was from the "egg bursting " from the ovary! hahaha Now I feel really stupid!

I would love another child, my husband would DIE if we had another. It is good we have these permanent methods! Although at times I think of when the kids are aloder, more moveable and the fun we will have when we can "communicate" with full sentences!

THANK YOU again!

Hey I did have a question for you today...if I am having large hormonal shifts like you describe , would that also cause me to be incredibly sick to my stomach (started a little yesterday, now I can stand the swings).

Do you think another form of BC would help "even this out" so to speak. I have a burning like sensation in my ovary area today which may be causing me to feel so ill.

thanks again!

I can be a pain!

Hormone levels and hormone swings can cause all sorts of problems, including, but not limited to, nausea, headache, fatigue, mood swings, depression, hot flashes, irritability, anxiety, insomnia, constipation, diarrhea, bloating, tender breasts and probably a lot more that aren't coming to mind at the moment. It's all part of the fun of being a woman! Every woman reacts differently to hormonal contraception but in theory it should help even things out. I found I was a lot worse on the pill than off it. Exercise can help. It reduces estrogen levels, which tend to be higher in sedentary women. High estrogen is associated with nausea and headache, as well as swollen, tender breasts. I still practice fertility awareness (even though I don't need to for birth control anymore as hubby is "fixed") to help me be aware of my cycle. I find that just having a better understanding of how my body works and what symptoms to expect when helps me to be more prepared to deal with it. If you are interested in learning more about it, I'd recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask. I'm going on vacation for a week, but I'll be in and out sporadically. Have a great weekend!

What an awesome answer, thank you so much!

I am back to running at the end of May, about 15 miles a week, and am 5'8 and about a size 8. For 4 kids, I feel pretty good. Maybe its menapause! hjahahaha

thank you again!

I am soooo sorry to ask you another question, but you seem to be a pretty good expert in all this! thank you so much for your answer again!

BTW IO hope you are having a GREAT vacation!

OK so what do you recomend to use to help with this sudden onset of problems 8 months post tubal. Since the last email I had asked, the naseousness is on and off, and it is just not like feeling bad. I wake up in themiddle of the night with it, have it off and on during the day (dont notice it when its gone, but do when it starts) and I even felt like throwing up during my run this morning. What can I add to my tubal to even this out. You indicate the pill may make it worst. What do you think? Or is this particular cycle just hard to figure out?

thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not to jump in where maybe I'm not wanted, but I think my first stop would be my general practitioner/internist to rule out some other non-hormonal cause for the nausea!

Fuuny you should say that (and no, please jump in)

I had a visit with a PCP for the first time I think in my life yesterday! I went for vericose veins problems (that got worst with each kid), he checked me out but I never thought to mention it to him (too cheeekin I guess). I have good BP (104/72), and other stuff (I dont get sick at all so I usually never think I need a doc)

thanks again!
