Nuvaring early removal question

I've only been using Nuvaring for about a month and a half (one full cycle and I've now inserted a 2nd ring for about a week now), but I've decided to not use it any more.

I mean, I love the fact that my sex drive has come back (maybe not all the way, but anyting is better than what it was on the pill) and it is so easy because I don't have to think about it but 2 times a month, but here are the reasons for my wanting to stop (with a question to follow).

*I have a lot more discharge/fluid that what I am used to having. I feel something there almost all the time.

*The smell of the discharge/fluid. It isn't horrible and nothing like a yeast infection, it is just stronger than what is normally "me".

*I don't like feeling dirty and smelly all the time. I am sure others can't tell, but I can!

So, I am going to remove the ring today (I guess), what should I expect? Do you think my period, or a "fake" period will come because I have had this month's ring in for a week?

Once the school nurses and doctors office opens back up at the end of August I will go in for an appointment to get a Copper IUD. (I am really wanting to get all the hormones out of my system!) But that is still almost 2 months away. I do have some BCPs that I was on before I tried the ring that I can go back to, but I am dreading that and the low libido.. So, I've talked it over with DBF and we will just use condoms faithfully (I hope *bad me*) until I can get the IUD inserted.

I mean, before I started with BCP's a couple of years ago, DBF and I only used condoms half the time and we were so lucky then that I didn't become pregnant. (I think about it now and OMG, we were so lucky!) So, condoms all the way for now.

Thanx for reading and letting me get all of that out of my mind. Any experiences or advice would be appreciated.

I'm sorry it didn't work out for you! I came from the land of no discharge at all, so I'm quite comfortable with the increase. ;)

You should expect to start bleeding within a couple days of removing the ring. It might be like a normal ring period, or it might be an abbreviated version of it, depending on how things go with you. You might ovulate in your first cycle off, but it may also take a few weeks or months to start ovulating again, so don't freak if you don't get your next period when you think you should. But make sure you're using those condoms religiously, otherwise I'll take back my "don't freak" advice! ;)

You know all the condom tips, right? Mind the expiration dates, be careful opening the package, no penetration without it (so don't get started and then stop and put one on), limit the condom's exposure to heat and light, squeeze the air out of the tip, make sure you've got plenty of lube...

And if you want good back up for your condom, an extra spermicide can add a measure of safety in case the condom breaks or if there's some other protection malfunction. You can get the film (may be tough to use, high concentration of nonoxynol 9), inserts that dissolve, or a gel in prefilled applicators.

Good luck, I hope things go well! Don't feel like you can't stick around! :)

Thanx for the quick reply Judie!

I too am bummed it just isn't working out. I too didn't normally have any discharge (only when ovulating and that was different...), so this was a huge change and I just don't like it at all!

I will be prepared for bleeding..just in case. I am quite sure my periods will happen like clock work, they always have (99% of the time). But if I do miss a period for some reason, I thank you in advance for the info and I won't freak! Especially when DBF and I WILL use condoms religiously!

Yeah, I know all the condom tips..Old hat stuff.. It's just a matter of actually following through with the advice.. It's a matter of "Do as I say, not as I do" type of thing, make sense? LOL.

I won't be a stranger! I love reading all the help and chiming in when I can.
