i have been using bc patches, ever since aug 2003. i started having sex with my bf april 2004. we use condoms all the time and i of course i have my bc patch. the last time i had sex was around may 12th, and my period, which comes like clockwork on fridays...came when it was suppose to...and has been for the past several weeks since having sex. i get some cramping on the first day of my period...very heavy but last only 4 days...which is normal for me. since i came home from college...i have been somewhat nasueaous, i did have a diet change when i came home. i had not eaten meat for about a year, and when i came home i started to. i look in the mirror and swear there is a bump there, and my stomach is a lot fatter and thicker...nothing too noticable...but to me it looks like something is wrong...what are the chances of being pregnant, while on bc patches, and still have a normal regular period? ever since i started having sex i have been very very paranoid...i just need someone to ease my mind.

With you using the patch AND condoms, the chances are REALLY slim. The patch is 99% effective along with condoms, you don't have much of a chance. Although no birthcontrol is 100%, i doubt you have much to worry about. Because your diet changed and you are out of school, you may be less active and therefore you have developed some not so fun areas. It happens to the best of us. Sometimes my stomach will be a little full one day and not the next. It all depends on what you eat, how active you are, etc. I would put your mind at ease that you are being responsible by not only using one form of contraceptive, but 2 very effective forms. I don't use condoms and MANY women don't. BC (including patch and ring) are 99% effective WIHTOUT additional contraceptive. So you can sleep tonight knowing this. By they way, the chances of being pregnant and haveing a *normal* period are VERY rare.

Goodluck!

I am probably being a little paranoid...and most likely the weight i have gained is due to me just eating, probably too much and not exercising enough. Thank so much for the response

yeah im sure ure being paranoid, im like that too...gosh rnt we all it seems? hehe. ure being very careful and ure chances r so slim. to make ure mind really at ease mayb get a pregnancy test, as scary as that may sound, it may b wut u need. ure probably imagining seeing ureself gettin bigger, etc. but yes diet change is huge wen ure home from college, as well as amt of activity. stop stressing!
