Stress and your period

Hi, I posted the other day on here and have to say I was pleased with the quick response! Thank you everyone!

Like I said before .. I have been sexually active (twice, well three times now) and everytime we've used a condom and made sure that it was on properly and when he pulled out, there were no holes, etc. I know condoms are not 100% and nothing is except abstinance .. but I'm only really one day late now ... I'm stressing over a few things .. work related ... anxious to get my period, not only to know I'm not pregnant, but so I can start being on the pill again .. I honestly don't want to take a home pregnancy test at this point, since I'm only a day late .. but can having sex for the first time screw up your body because it's all new? Being anxious as well? I don't know. I need to not stress. My friends say they have been late before too .. some a week or so .. I just wish I could ease my worries .. thanks.

Stress can delay ovulation. Are you charting? My periods are never perfect 28 day cycles so charting helps me figure out when I will get my period. But even then, some months I start my period 13 days after ovulation, some months it is 14 days past ovulation. Even if your periods are like clockwork, it is perfectly normal to have an unusual month. So try not to worry for a few more days :)

I wouldn't worry about it unless you are a couple of weeks late or completely skipped a month. If you have just started being sexually active, have you gone for a pelvic exam and pap smear? I recommend it so if there is a problem in the future you have a history and baseline.

Hey there girlie,

I dont know if this will help but i have read that having sex for the first time can cause your hormones to act different, and that could cause your period to be late. Im not sure how true that is but i read it somewhere on ivillage. I wouldnt worry to much im sure she will come soon. Stop stressing. :)
