Hello! I've started taking Aviane a few weeks ago. Not too many side effects besides stomach bloat. Do you think if I drink more water, that may help? Or if its water I'm retaining, will drinking more make it worse? I also ate alot of Doritos yesterday, so I have a feeling that is contributing to how I'm feeling today. haha!

Drinking more water may help with bloating ESPECIALLY if you ate too much sodium yesterday! Naughty girl... ;) If you have too much sodium in your body, you'll retain water to try to balance it out. More water, I think, will help to get all that junk processed so that you won't need to retain the water. If it's your new pill making you retain water, it may take some time for that to work itself out, or it might not. If you've taken other pills and not had issues with water retention, a different progestin might be in order (even though it's supposed to be the estrogen that makes you retain water).

Hope that helps!

Hey Judie! yeah...I was a naughty girl! When I was younger, I could eat that junk and not gain anything. Now, I can't even do bad one day without feeling bloated after. And I LOVE doritos! I dranks alot of water yesterday and I'm going to do the same today. I was on the pill about 7 months ago but went off because I thought it was causing me to gain weight. Well when I went off it, I only lost about 4 pounds, so I don't know if the pill was the whole cause. I am trying to be extra careful this time and I would also like to try to loose the 15 I gained while on the pill the first time around. Is Aviane lower in Estrogen? I am trying to stay on the lowest dose possible. I know there is a post floating around where you mention what is in each pill. Still haven't gotten around to checking it out though. hope you have a great day!

It's up in the FAQ's, should be easy to find! But just in case you don't get there, Aviane is a generic for Alesse, which is 0.1mg of levonorgestrel (the progestin) and 20mcg of ethinyl estradiol (the estrogen). The only thing with less estrogen on the US market is Nuvaring!

It gets tougher as time goes by, I'm afraid. I'm dreading what happens after 30.... ;)
