Weight Limit on Patch
| Mon, 07-12-2004 - 3:28pm |
I've been on the Patch for..about a year now. My Doc recommended it b/c I couldn't remember to take the pill. (already have a son) I came on here wondering about my patch lifting, and had my questions answered....thanks! Now I have seen some things about weight associated with the patch. Is there a "weight limit" to the effectiveness of it? I weigh...hm hm...188. Am I less protected? And why would my Gyno reccomend it, knowing how much I weigh? any answers wold help!! Thanks.

The prescribing information fort Ortho Evra: http://www.orthoevra.com/about_ortho_evra/full.html says this about weight and effectiveness:
PRECAUTIONS
“1. Body Weight equal to or greater than 198 lbs. (90 kg)
Results of clinical trials suggest that ORTHO EVRA® may be less effective in women with body weight (is equal to or greater than)198 lbs. (90 kg) than in women with lower body weights.”
It seems as though you should be ok but it might be a good idea to ask your doctor about that.
Good luck,
Jill
