How easy is the Pill to take?

I am thinking about going on it but it seems like you have to take one everyday but then skip it or take a placebo if you want your period at a certain time. It just seems like there's so many other factors involved and I'd be afraid that if i missed one or took a placebo or whatever that I might get pregnant and screw up the system. Also is it truly safe for a guy to come inside of you if you're on the pill? I just feel like there would always be that chance that I would get pregnant.

I am not sure what you are talking about when you say taking the wrong pill... but here's how it works...

You take a pill everyday. Everyday around the same time. The first three weeks of the month are the "active pills"... the last week is the placebo week, during which you get your period.

Now... there are different kinds of pills. There are pills that give you the exact same dose every day for those three weeks... and then the placebo week.

Another changes the dose each of the three weeks. But it's not confusing, they come in a little pack and are labeled for each day. Could not be easier.

Yes, it is safe for him to cum in you. It doesn't work immediately though, so make sure you ask your doctor (they say about 7 days, but I would wait the whole month).

but it's fine - as long as you take the pill the same time every day (+/- 2 hours I believe), and that you aren't on anything else like antibiotics that can interact with the effectiveness of the pill.

Talk to your doc for more info. Hope this helped.

I was on the pill for 13 years....I never had any problems "taking it"....I mean there's a new pill out there (I don't have much info)-seasonale I think-that you take for 3 months and a period....You can do that with the other pills but it's complicated and doesn't always "work"-sometimes there's alot of spotting....Once your body's used to a certain amount of hormones sometimes it takes a little while for it to get used to the chagne....

If you're worried that you might miss a pill or take them out of order (though the packages are numbered), then you might want to look into the patch. It's the basically the same hormones as Ortho Tri-Cyclen, in a patch you stick on once a week for three weeks, then leave off for one week. Easy as pie. I was taking OTC-lo, but my insurance co. raised my co-pay on it, to where it was the same as the patch, so I figured that I may as well get the convenience if I'm going to have to pay so much.

I took the pill for about six or so years before Nuvaring was available. It becomes a habit, like brushing your teeth or taking your vitamins. If you can't remember, some women set alarms on watches or cell phones to remind them that it's time. I think in all that time I probably only missed a pill about four times.

You can't beat the convenience of Nuvaring, if it worked for you, it's a flexible plastic ring inserted in the vagina and then you forget about it for three weeks! It works just like the pill. It's one-size-fits-most and like anything else some women don't get along with the particular combination of hormones, but it might be something to check into as well.
