about a week and a half ago i ran out of my pills, it was about a week before my period was due, i went to the doctor and got a new prescription, however i was without pills for about a week, the doctor told me to start the following sunday and i did, now my period is late...could this be because i started a new packet of birth control or could i be pregnant? please let me know your thoughts, it would be greatly appreciated....

Hi Ally, welcome!

I’m confused. I can’t figure out your timeline. You finished the pack before you ran out, right? That was a week and a half ago. And, did you get your period after you ran out of pills? You should have gotten your period in the interval between the last active pill in the previous pack and the first active pill from your new Rx.

What was the date you began your new pack? The way I’m reading your post you should be only a few pills into your new pack and your next period won’t be until the placebo week of your current pack. If the problem is that you didn’t get a period between packs then you should test to see where you are. I hope you get the result you want. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Good luck,

You can sometimes miss a period, even when on the pill. Even so, if I were you I'd test just so you know where you are. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
