Skipped period...now spotting

I just went on vacation so I wanted to skip my period. I started a new pack of pills right after I finished my others and now I won't stop spotting! It's been over a week and its really annoying. It's almost like having a period. How long does spotting usually last when you skip your period one month. I wanted to take my OTC-LO pills continuously for 3 months so I wouldn't have a period but will this spotting happen every month? HELP PLEASE! Thanks!

Ortho Tri Cyclen and Ortho Tri Cyclen Lo are both triphasic pills. The only way to effectively skip your period and take your pills back to back is to do so with a monophasic pill.

I feel your pain. Here's the thing - I did the same thing (ahead of time, knowing I might spot). Um, it lasted the whole month for me, sorry babe...

But my doc told me something I could do (for the future, too late for you now)...

Have two packs ready. Take week one of the first pack... and week one of the second pack...then week two of the first pack... followed by week two of the second pack... week 3 of the 1st pack and then week 3 of the 2nd pack.

Then ONE placebo week.

See, what you and I did makes the hormone level drop so quickly that it messes up your body. Does that make sense? This way, you still skip a period, but maintain a decent ascension of hormones.

FINALLY - don't keep this up for the entire three months... when I change birth control or whatever for spotting, it only goes away after I have my real period...
