Breast Sensitive

My breasts for at least the last 3 days have been very sensitive. My nipples stay erect almost all of the time and are very sensitive. My breasts itch a lot, especially when I'm laying on them or wearing clothing of any sort. Also, my breasts feel a bit more "swollen" than usual. I do recall that I did gain about 6-8 lbs on my last Dr visit, which was several weeks ago.

I'm currently on BCP (mini-pill - no placebo pills), I sometimes dont have a period...sometimes I have a small light period. I dont recall the exact date right now, but my last period was in mid to late June. I missed a few pills around the time of my period, and I do recall having sex once or twice with my boyfriend around that time.

The cause for my concern is because obviously I dont normally get PMS or this type of (or this much) of breast sensitivity. When I get my period (if I do at all), it normally surprises me.

Any thoughts, advice, ideas, etc...please? Thanks!

Hi misstudly, welcome!

Missing several pills while taking progestin only pills (POPs) can put you at considerable risk since a POP only suppresses ovulation about 50% of the time when taken correctly. If I were you I'd test as soon as you can to see where you are. I hope you get the result you want. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck and hugs,

Hello!

Thank you for your response and advice! I am curious about when the best time to take a pregnancy test is...? I mean, since I am on BCP's, my periods are sometimes unpredictable, so I hope I take the test at a time that it will be accurate.... And from what I've heard before, it is best to take the test in the mornings?

Thanks again!

I don’t believe you said which POP you are on. Micronor recommends testing if a user hasn’t had a period in 45 days. A HPT is usually pretty accurate if used 14 days after the event of concern. You should use your first urine of the morning to test as that is when HCG (the pregnancy hormone) will be the most concentrated and apt to provide the most accurate result. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
