Does anyone know if there is any drug interaction or efficacy reduction if you take over the counter diuretics (ie, Diurex) in conjunction with Oral Contraceptives? I can't seem to find any concrete information on the subject. Any input would be welcomed!

Hi lauraeyes2, welcome!

I think asking your pharmacist about Diurex and OCs would be the thing to do. I don't think there would be an interaction, but I don't know for sure. You'll let us know what s/he says, right?

Good luck,

Hi Laura. If the active ingredient in over the counter diuretics is the same as the one prescribed to me by my doctor, than I would assume it's ok. I taketriamterene/hydrochlorothiazide for the first 4 days of every pack. My doctor says this helps with the bloating and pain tenderness. Hope this helps.

I agree with Jill-- I'd check this out with my doctor or pharmacist.
