I just have a couple of questions about the pill. I just got married and decided to go on the pill, i really have no idea about how it works and the more information i read and look up the more confused i get so i would love an answer that is simple for me to understand.....
What are the chances of myself ovulating if i had taken the pill at irregular times on the second week of taking my pills, if so what are the chances of becoming pregnant? Also i was unable to take my pill recently it was only one day approx. 7 days before my period(i did not have them with me) is it possible for me to fall pregnant considering i had missed the pill and i had irregular time of taking the pill at the start of the second week in the same month (the amount of days of irregular time was approx. 3-4 days and the difference in time was approx. 4 hours). My husband and i have had sex during all these periods of time.
Also i did hear that if you take particular suppliments, it may affect the pill, i do suffer from anxiety and do take St. John's Wort, would this affect the pill, and would it affect the contraception?
I know it is not an excuse but i had no idea of how clear you must be about when you take the pill and the outside contributions you make that can affect your protection.
Thank you for your help.

Congratulations on your marriage!
Missing pills, being more than +/-2 hours late taking your pill and taking St Johns Wort can all decrease the effectiveness of your pills. No one can say what the reduction will be for you since we are all different. If I were you I would stop taking SJW or switch to a nonhormonal method of contraception. If you are having trouble remembering your pills you might want to set the alarm on a clock or watch, or put a reminder message on your cell phone, PDA or computer to remind you at pill time.
For information on how hormonal contraceptives work and how to take them correctly read the posts in the FAQ folder at the top of the board. Thanks for posting. You’ll let us know how you’re doing, right?
Good luck,
Jill
