Anxious-period after depo

Hey there,

As a few of you may have read I am anxious about having a period after 6 years on the depo. Since it has been so long I feel like I am just going to have it for the first time. Anyway I had a couple of questions may someone could help me with. First of all (and this may sound silly but I started thinking about it after reading an article) I usually use tampons and when I had a period I changed it every 4 hours. In the article the doctor spoKe about people who change it every hour. I didnt know if it because they have a heavy flow or what. My question is how do you know when to change it? Is it when you feel/see leakage or just a good rule of thumb is every 4 hours? Also I usually wear a thong and if I wanted to wear a pad (like at night) is there one that people have found work well. I dont want to have to get up in the middle of the night and change the tampon but also dont want to ruin any sheets/panties. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Have a great Monday to all!

Its like being 13 all over again! Or however old you were when you first got your period. I can imagine that you might have forgot all about that, i would if i could! Now i know that your expecting your period, but many post-depo users find that it can take a while for aunt flow to return. So be patient for its arrival. If i were you because it will be unexpected unless you have some definite PMS signs, i'd wear those mini pads that are specially made for thongs that way you don't have any uttos, and if you had my luck that would be the day i wore my white pants! Now onto your question. i never really was a tampon user till just recently. How i know that it is time for a tampon change is when i go to the bathroom and i wipe and i notice some color on the tp, althoug that doesn't always indicate you need to change, but it can be something you go by until you know what you can do. I'd go about every 4 hours, then see if that is too much or not enough. I'd also wear those thong mini pads just to be on the safe side. I'm sure your memory will come roaring back. The first month you'll probably not know exactly how absorbant the tampon should be, but i'm sure by the second you'll know what to expect. I hope this helps a little bit. if your period should not come in a few months, you might want to ask your doctor about putting you on a bc pill just to get your cycle regular. Let us know how it goes!

Goodluck
