Hi,

I was on OTC-Lo and then switched to OTC because of BTB. This month, I began Ovcon 35 to try to alleviate the BTB. I'm in my 3rd week, and experiencing more BTB than I ever had with either of the first 2 pills. I know I shouldn't worry yet, because this is still only my first month.

However, I read somewhere that Ovcon 35 should be prescribed when there is an absent or too light of a flow. That sounds contrary to what I need. I need something that will better control my uterine lining while I'm still on the active pills.

Any advice?

hi!

While I don't exactly know the answer to your question, I just wanted to say that I empathize with you about the side effects. I, too, am in the third week of my 1st month of Ovcon 35, after switching from OTC-Lo. I had heavy BTB on OTC-Lo, and my doctor switched me to Ovcon 35, saying that the monophasic pills are less likely to have side effects such as BTB as opposed to tri-phasic pills. Not only am I getting a minor amount of BTB in my third week of active pills, but I'm also getting oh-so-fun cramps (minor) and back pain. Ah, what I've always wanted. But just wanted to share my experience - we're in the same boat!

Good luck, hope you find the answer to your question.

Are you going to stick out this pill for another 2 months? I think the BTB will subside in future months, and I'm really happy to be on a monophasic pill. I just think my body is overly sensitive and needs time to adjust to 3 weeks on the same level of hormones. I hope this pill works because I'm tired of changing. It's frustrating to think that nothing is working quite right for my body.

I was on OTC and the ONLY month I didn't have BTB was my 8th and final month, but at that point, my doctor had already told me to start Ovcon 35. I just don't want a ton of BTB next month because I'll be in Italy for 2 weeks, and I don't really need to bleed the entire trip!

I too empathize with your situation. I have been on Ovcon-35 for just about a year now and have had BTB the entire time. The past 2 months have been the worst yet! I've also had major cramping for at least 2 weeks out of the month. I was on two pills prior to this b/c of the same thing. So, I have been having BTB for the past 3 years and have found nothing agreeable with me. Everyone says to stay on it for at least 3 months though. I am going next week to switch pills yet again. I posted my problem on here a while ago and someone told me to try Nordette, LoOvral or Desogen. So, we'll what she switches me to. I'm not waiting another year though if this happens again with the next pill. Good luck!

I am going to stick with this pill for the next two months, just to give it the obligatory trial period. I really hope it works for me; I'm not in the mood to deal with yet ANOTHER round of side effects by switching pills again. I'm also really happy to be on a monophaisic pill because I think (hope) that my body will react better to a constant amount of hormones rather than up and down like OTC-Lo. It'll just take time to adjust. *sigh*

Good luck with the pill - and have fun on your trip to Italy!

My BTB stopped last night!!! I'm hoping this is a good sign. On all of my previous pills, as soon as I began to bleed, it did not stop until I had my withdrawal bleed. I'm hoping this means that my body is beginning to understand what's going on. Hope you're doing better as well.

Congrats! Glad it stopped. Seems my cramps have stopped (phew) but not the bleeding. Oh well, something is better than nothing, right?

Hope the pill keeps working for you!

I'm on Ovcon 35 also to get rid of irregular bleeding (I was having irregular bleeding after I went off the pill). Anyway, I'm on month 4. I had BTB the first month (early cycle) and now the 4th cycle (end of cycle). My dr prescribed cenestin (estrogen) to take in my early cycle to try and head off the bleeding. I didn't take the estrogen for quite as many days this month so I'm not sure if that is what is causing the bleeding or not. Also, i took my pill 2 hours late one day this week - maybe that added to it.

I am at wits end. I was so excited in May and June to not have BTB but now I am discouraged again.

Hope we all can get back to normal !

It's such an annoying process trying to adjust to BCPs, but hopefully it'll all work out.

Good luck!
