Norplant?

I've recently discovered the need to have some form of birth control, and I came across norplant. It sounds satisfactory, except for a few littel puzzlements I have about it.
For instance, one thing that confounds me is if you can see or feel the implants in the upper arm. Would they start to protrude from the skin if I gained enough muscle? Or would I have irregulaer bleeding from it? Another thing is that I would like implants that have some estrogen in them, but i don't know if there are any available, as I am a resident of Canada, and there seems to be some lack of caertain birth control methods here.
I'm very confused right now, but i think that if the input that i receive on norplant is disatisfactory, then i will go on the pill, or the patch.

-Thank you

I don’t know if Norplant is available in Canada or not. It is not currently available in the U.S. I don’t think we have many members who have used Norplant but perhaps some of them can answer your questions. In the meantime you might want to call the toll-free Norplant® System Information Line at 1-800-364-9809 to speak with an information specialist. And, if you haven’t already done so, take a look at the Norplant website at: http://www.norplantinfo.com/ You might also want to read “Deciding which method is right for you” in the FAQ folder at the top of the board if Norplant isn’t available.
Good luck,
Jill
