I posted on other board as well... but thought some BC expertise could help me out as well in knowing my "chances"

I am beginning to feel so neurotic now bc I cant relax!

1) breakthrough bleeding early June

2) missed a few BC doses early to mid-June

3) experienced symptoms of pg, stopped BC around June 20

4) one week later had a normal 2-day AF, but still felt "weird"

5) ovulation would have been

Hi Sara, Welcome!

If you had a pill period during the last few days of June then you are probably aren't pg from IC before then. However if you stopped using an effective contraceptive method on June 20th or so then you may be at risk from any IC during and after your period. Some women ovulate very soon after coming off BCPs, others may take several months return to fertility. It is impossible to say where you are in your cycle unless you have been monitoring and charting your fertility signs: basal body temperature, cervical position and cervical fluids. Are you trying TTC? If you are then charting will help you identify your fertile days so that you can concentrate your efforts effectively. A very good book on the menstrual cycle is Toni Weschler's Taking Charge of Your Fertility. If you are trying to avoid you should be using an effective method of contraception. You'll let us know how you're doing, right?

Good luck,

Hi Jill-

What is IC?

After going off BCP June 20, I had a regular AF July 6-7, lasted a couple days- which is normal for me. I would have ovulated between July 12 & today, DH and i have been 'very' active- I think going off BCP changed my hormones or something! Then after reading a little, I found out that my ovulation day would have occurred between July 14 & 21!

It was too late to have checked whether or not I was fertile before, but I've been checking since Monday, nothing to alarm me- and the temperature thing is just confusing!

However- since Friday I've been getting dizzy, short spells of nausea, feeling weak & tired, short and spiratic cramps in my pelvis, headaches, couple days of constipation and have to pee at least once every 10-20 minutes!

I've called EVERY ObGyn near me and all are booked until mid- August, my general pract. has an office thats so busy when I went she just rushed me out of there, only taking a urine test- and wont call me back! So off course I dont want to go back to her.

DH and I got married in March, we are having our "big" wedding July 31, then going on a week long honeymoon. So its killing me NOT knowing what the chances are while trying to organize the next two weeks of wedding planning and then traveling! ugh.

Jill thanks for your response. I've been looking all over the internet, and really, just a percentage would ease my mind to stop thinking about it. DH and I are not 'trying' per say: but just letting things happen as God intended.

Thanks- Sara!

Hi Sara,

IC = (sexual) intercourse

Stopping hormonal contraceptives can certainly increase the libido! That happened to me big time, when I stopped taking OTC! The libido actually returns to its natural level after being suppressed by the hormones in your pills.

Sweetie, I don’t know what you have been reading but ovulation calculators deal with averages. Your cycle may not be average and with the stress of an upcoming wedding and the worry about the possibility of being pg I would be very surprised if it was. You can not accurately tell if you ovulated unless you can detect the temperature shift at ovulation. And sometimes coming off the pill you might not ovulate for a few weeks. No one can give you a percentage probability that you are or aren’t pg. If your first cycle day off hormones was July 6 then perhaps you are feeling ‘off hormones’ pms for the first time in - how long? And some of your symptoms could be stress from your forthcoming wedding.

You can buy a HPT at your local pharmacy and test yourself. You should use the first urine of the morning as that is concentrated and will provide the most accurate result. A test is usually pretty accurate about 14 days after the event. I hope you get the answer you want. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?

Hugs,

      Jill
