Taking pills late

I work various shifts at a busy restaraunt, and this week my boss has me on evenings. Usually I take my pill at 10 pm, and usually I am very good about taking it. However, with working all evenings I've been taking my pill late every night for the last week. The closest was about 2.5 hours late ranging to 6 hours late (but I only did that once I swear!). Bad bad bad - I know! but I did eventaully take them all. My question is - DBF works out of town and is comming to visit this weekend, am I gonna have to use a comdom? and alternately - we both detest condoms so what other back up do you think is good method considering the circumstances ie. the fact that I am on the pill and this need for backup really is a blip in the radar, so we need something effective - but not permanant or too expensive. Thanks guys.

Dpending on how it has been since you took the late pills, I would definately advise that you do use backup, even if its not the perfered method. Maybe a change in your pill taking time is in order. Just something to think about so you can take them more on time.

Have you considered using the Patch instead of the pill? I know it wont help you for this weekend, but if your schedule is such that it's hard to take your pill on time, this might be a good alternative. I switched from the pill to the patch last month and so far so good. I change it once a week, so it's pretty worry-free.

Hi laura_girl, welcome back!

I agree that you should use back-up. You might try the contraceptive sponge. Today or Protectaid are two brands that might be available at a pharmacy near you. I agree too that changing to the patch would help minimize maintenance problems.

Good luck,
