Confused by Skipping

Ok, I admit it doesn't take much to confuse me... all I want to do is try and not be on my period while on vacation for two weeks. I use the patch so I figured I could just go 5 weeks the skip, right? BUT... then after the skip, do I go right back to 3 on? That seems right to me but at 40 years old, I've actually never attempted to manipulate my b/c and 4 children later I ASSURE you this is not the time I want to start:)

You can try to go five weeks straight with five patches, if the hormones in the patches will control your endometrium that long. If you have time it would be a good idea to try this ahead of time in case you have irregular bleeding while on patch four or five. Afterward you should use the patches (at a minimum) in groups of three – three active patches and one patch free week since that is the way they have been tested and found to be effective. With twenty one consecutive days of hormones you are protected during your patch free week. If only two patches were used, you might not be protected during your patch free week. We don’t know. It might not be a bad idea to talk with your doctor about your plans and get his or her thoughts. Let us know how it works for you, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
