I'd love to know what you think/thought about it!

I've never used a barrier method, so I'm a bit nervous and excited. I was on Ortho Tri Cyclen from age 16 to 22, then switched due to ovarian cysts to Ortho Cyclen, and back to Ortho Tri Cyclen 4 moths late, and that is where I am now.

I am tired of the side effects and want to give my body a break! Who knows maybe the nice me will come back. hehehe

Hi mommy2oo4,

I've worn a 26mm Fem cap (just to see what it was like since I wear and love my Oves cervical cap.) and I thought it worked very well. I know several women who use FemCap. Have you visited the site: http://www.femcap.com/ ? Some women Love FemCap, others may have problems with it depending on the anatomies of the couple using the cap. If the woman has a short vagina or the man is large he may hit the removal strap which can be uncomfortable. You won't know if that will be a problem until you take it for a test drive. If the removal strap is a problem some users have trimmed the strap off but the cap can then be more difficult to remove. Let us know how you like the cap, ok?

Good luck,

      Jill

Hi Jill! Thanks for the reply. I did go to the website and it was very helpful! I called my OB/GYN to get a prescription, and NO one there knew what the femcap was!!! : C She asked me to print out the info on it so she can look over it at my appointment on Monday the 26th. I told the scheduler to have Sandi look over the website to learn more before I get there.... Hello that make much more sense! Oh well, I always seem to be ahead of my time. hehehe

Thanks!

I'm interested in trying it out too! Isn't it horrible how so many GYNs never even mention non-hormonal forms of BC? I thought maybe it was just my bias doctor, but my friend recently got on the shot, and said that cervical caps were not even offered! Let us know how the FemCap works for you!

I sure will! My appointment is this afternoon, so I'll post all the details tomorrow morning. I'm a little worried that trying to get this product is going to be a headache! I'll probably have to buy it out of pocket then send in a claim to my ins. : C

I can understand why the barrier methods are not offered to teens... They're NOT responsible yet!!! lol I was 16 when I went on the pill, and if I had been prescribed a barrier method I can grantee I'd be a mommy already! I still can't remember to take my BCPs on time, and I'm 22! hehehe

Although I want a baby really bad, I know that it's just not our time yet. And I would NEVER get pregnant with out Randy's ok! We've agreed that January 2006 will be a good time to start trying.... C :

Best of luck honey!
