Thinking of switching pills...

Hi!
I have been on OTC for three years and have never had any problems with it. Recently one of my friends told me that you should switch birth control pills every couple of years because staying on the same pill for long periods of time could increase chances of infertility in the future. So I have two questions...

So I have two questions...
1) is this true? Are there any other reasons why you should switch pills every couple of years?
2) I am hesitant to switch because I have never had any problems with OTC. I've read other's submissions about horror stories they have had from switching. I've thought of Yasmin, but I'm not sure if I should switch to another tri-cycle pill (since that is what I am used to) instead of a mono-phase pill. Or do reactions have to do more with the dosage of hormones?
I appreciate any help you all can give me!!!!

No this is not true!! BC pills do not cause infertility and staying on the same pill for long periods of time definitely does not cause infertility. Some women after about 5 years or so on the same pill, their body tends to change and they need a pill change, but it doesn't not cause infertility.

If you've never had any problems, then don't worry about it. I wouldn't even concider switching. If you switch you risk side effects that you don't have. Each women has a difference experience on bc pills. Some women will have no side effects and some will have all the side effects, even on the same pill. So if you are doing great on the one you are on, i'd stay on and only change if a few years down the line you start to spot few days before you end your active pills or you do start to notice side effects, thats when you should switch. But you got it going good now, don't knock it!
Hope this helps a lil bit.
DON'T switch!!! hehehe I am in the middle of a BCP switch nightmare! I was put on OTC when I was 16 and things were wonderful! Then at 22 I was late for the first time due to ovarian cysts, so they switched me to OC. after 4 months of horrible mood swings, depression, weight gain I forced them to switch me back. They did, but the shortened my cycle to 23 days instead of the 28 days. She said this was to prevent me from ovulating. Well it's been 3 months since and my cycle is way messed up! I usually don't start for 4 days after my BCPs say I'm supposed to, and last about 5 days. That was a bit frustrating, but this month has been the last straw form me! I was due per BCPs on 7/13 and figured I'd start on 7/17, but NOTHING! I feel like crap, and am so bloated I can't even button my black slacks! I had some spotting when I wiped today 7/22 and am praying it will start full force soon.
I have decided to switch to the FemCap since we are planning on starting our family in January 2006... My body needs a break! As for you needing to switch, my doctor told me that was not true! Do some research on the internet.
Good Luck!
