I was here several months ago, let me brief you. I had been having irregular bleeding for several months in a row. At that time I was not on the pill. I had many exams, ultrasounds, endometrial biopsy, paps, colposcopy, all coming back fine. (actually the pap was ascus, hpv negative so then I had the colpo that came back fine). Anyway, I decided to go on the pill (Ovcon 35) in April. That month I had breakthrough bleeding. My dr asked that I call if that happened, even if it were the first month. He prescribed cenestin (to add estrogen). I took that for probably 10 days that month. In May, I started taking the estrogen (along with bcp) for the first half of the cycle. In June, same story. No breakthrough in May or June.

Well, here it is July. (month 4 on the pill). I am getting to the end of my cycle (my last pill is supposed to be 2 days from now) and I started spotting today. I did take the cenestin at the beginning of the cycle but probably only took it for 5 days (the last couple months I probably took it for 7-9 days). I also feel a little crampy - mostly in my lower back. All of my bleeding usually has been around day 11 - 14, but this time it is more like day 25.

I did read the link on irregular bleeding but I wanted some other opinions. I am 39 and I know I had been ovulating before I went on the pill (I had a blood test to confirm this). I am so sick of worrying over this bleeding. I really believe I shouldn't worry because I have had about every test but I still wonder if something is really wrong.

Thanks for your thoughts.

So were May and June fine? Just bleeding in July and prior to May? If you've changed how much estrogen you're getting in a cycle, that can DEFINITELY have an effect on bleeding patterns. If changing the hormones gets the bleeding to stop, especially because you've had all those tests, I'd have to think that it's a hormonal issue and not something else.

You had approximately middle-of-the-cycle bleeding before the pill? Or that was just in April when you first started? The other thing to remember here too is because you're still technically in the break-in window, things in your body may still be changing and you're just getting to where you can determine what effect is from the Cinestin, what's from the pill, and such. You might try next month going back to the regimen you used in May and June and see what happens. If that goes well, what about reducing the Cinestin one day each month to see at what point the bleeding starts back up? Just a theory, your doctor may want some input too! ;) But then you'd know what dose you needed to keep things cool.

Keep us posted, okay?
