Gaining weight

I just had a baby in April and started taking Orthotricyclene Lo about eight weeks after giving birth. Well, right after I had my baby the weight was coming off and I was just about down to my pre-pregnancy size. As soon as I started the pill, the pounds have been packing back on. It's like the pill made my metabolism non existant. I hate this side effect, but I've been pregnant for the last 2 years in a row. I have an 18 month old and a 3 month old. I love my two sons to death but I DON'T want to get pregnant again. This is my first time ever taking the pill and so far I hate it. What other birth control options do I have that don't involve putting hormones into my body???

Congratulations on your new son! There are a lot of different pills to choose from so there may be a pill that’s right for you. If you are breastfeeding exclusively a progestin only pill might have less side effects for you right now. There are two posts in the FAQ folder at the top of the board that should be of interest to you, they are: “Common pill side effects” and “Deciding which method is right for you.” After you read those, if you have more questions about a particular method, please ask. Thanks for posting,
Good luck,
Jill
I understand your situation! Last August I quit the pill and lost weight immediately, really! Since then I have lost 25lbs. I have not really altered my eating or exercise habits, and I am not ill. For me, anyhow, I think the pill affected my metabolism. I was then considering an IUD when my husband went ahead with a vasectomy(we have 2 children and our family is complete). We have been so much more intimate not worrying about pregnancy. Anyway, if he had not chosen to get the vasectomy, I would have gone with the IUD. The FAQ section has an excellent write-up about them. Just thought you would want to know someone else's experience/opinion. Best of luck!
