Immediate Help Needed - Depo

I am 19 years old and was on the Depo Shot for a year and three months. During that time, I was spot bleeding every single day, for over a year. At the beginning of January 2004 I couldn't get the money for my shot so I have been off the shot for almost 8 months now. The whole time I have been off the shot I have been bleeding (so that makes two full years of bleeding every day), except for about a week a month ago, it stopped. Then it started again... a lot heavier. Such heavy bleeding that I am getting worried. I even had to call into work sick today because of the bleeding. Please let me know what you think of this excessive bleeding. I tried to get into the doctor but they didn't have any appointments open until August 24th... a whole month from now. THANK YOU!

You should be seen by a medical practitioner. There may be more going on than just the aftereffects of Depo. If you can’t get to your own doctor I would try your public health clinic or a Planned Parenthood health center near you. Enter your zip in the PP locator http://www.plannedparenthood.org/Zip.htm It’s not unusual for women coming off Depo to take 12 – 18 months to begin cycling naturally once more. A doctor can give you something to try and regularize your cycles again. Let us know how you’re doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
