How about an IUD? They last anywhere from 5-10 years depending on the type. I was considering one until my husband had a vasectomy. Look in the FAQ for IUD and there is an excellent write-up! They free-up the everyday thinking of birthcontrol but arent permanent. Then, when you are older you can make things permanent. Best Wishes!

Hi,

This is just my experience and I want to say that not everyone has a bad experience like this. I had my tubes tied after my second child was born. I was 22 years old. I still don't know why they did it. I had never thought of it, but it was my doctors suggestion. I had two high risk pregnancies. My dd was breech/preterm labor, ds was preterm labor/stuck (took about an hour for him to be born via c/section).

I have had ovarian cysts, long/heavy/stalled cycles. My cycle will start, stop for a few days and start again. I have excruciating cramps, which I never had before. I have cycles that are very irratic and I never know when it will start.

I also have a lot of depression with this. I want another baby and can never have one. Seeing pregnant women or babies is really not a fun thing. I feel trapped in this body that I mutulated and I can't change it. You can have a reversal, but there are no guarantees. There are women who conceive soon after and some who spend thousands of dollars and never conceive.

Make sure that this is what you want. I thought that I was happy with my two kids and that I never wanted any more. I had difficult pregnancies and did not want to do that again. I can tell you that as soon as my son was born, I knew I had made a mistake. I don't know if I would have wanted more had I not had my tubes tied, it could be that I want what I can't have. I don't know. I do know that that is the single most regretted thing I have ever done in my life.

Not everyone feels this way. I know women who feel free and are completely happy with their tubals. I wish I was one of them. I am tormented every month of my life and I can't change it. Just be sure it is what you want.

Hi Amber - Have you ever talked to your DR about having your tubes undone? A reversal? A friend of mine also had her tubes tied when she was 24? after having 2 kids. Years later, she met a wonderful man, remarried, and had the reversal done, and went on to have 3 more! Crazy, I know, but she's a wonderful Mom. If you truly want another baby, you should look into it. :)
