I am so scared, please help! (Pill-Time)

Hey everyone, I've been on the birth control pill now for about two months. Tonight I was out with some friends. They just picked me up from work and we went and hung out until about 12 am. I came home took a shower by the time I was sitting in front of this computer it was about 12 30 am. I tottaly forgot about my pill!!! I ussually take it every day around 10. But today I took it almost three hours late. Is that going to cause a problem? Is everything going to be ok? Me and my boyfriend rely only on the pill, he pulls out all of the time though. Still, what time do you guys take your pill at? Have you ever been late with it, and things still turned out ok? I need some advice from girlies with experience!
Please help, I'm really freaking out.
Thanks a bunch.

You sound just like me - about three weeks ago I had the same exact problem and I was reacting the same as you are. I posted a message and the ladies on here told me that for a combination pill, +/- 2 hours is considered to be "on-time." They also said that if a pill is taken 8 hours late, then it is considered "missed." I also called a pharmacist and was talking to him about it and he said that it could be taken outside of that +/- 2 hours and everything would still be fine. Just remember that the pill works in three ways 1.) suppress ovulation 2.) makes your CM sticky and thick so sperm won't get through and 3.) it makes the endometrium lining uninhabitable should fertilization occur. From what I have learned, it sounds as if missing it by 3 hours is alright as long as you have taken the other pills on-time and correctly. You may want to look in the FAQ folder at the top of the page. They have a great section on taking your pills correctly.
I hope this has eased your mind a little! Good luck.
Also, when I worry about this type of stuff, I try to call a pharmacist - they are usually helpful and friendly.
