I have been on Zovia for 2 years now.... I was wondering if there are any negative effects to stopping the pill if I am not sexually active. I want to stop taking it, but want the option to start taking it again if necessary.... Is there a problem with stopping for a month or more and then restarting??? THanks!

I've never taken Zovia but have "stopped" taking the pill a few times over the years-due to lack of a job and insurance and not being able to afford it...I can't remember anything BAD happening...heavier periods, irregular periods for a while until your body adjusts to not being on the hormoness.....that's what I would expect....

You can stop taking the pill at any time, but we (and probably a lot of doctors too) recommend stopping at the end of a pack rather than in the middle of the pack. If you stop taking the pill, be forewarned that you may not start ovulating again right away and your next period could be on time, delayed several weeks, or even several months. If you want to re-start in a month, that could be a little trickier if you don't have your periods back yet, but not impossible to work with.

Readjusting to their own hormones has been difficult for some women and a breeze for others, but most women (so I hear) find that they return to the cycles that they had before they started taking the pill.

Good luck!
