Emergency Contraception after 72hrs?

I was wondering if you could get the morning after pill after it has already been over 72 hours since intercourse and if it is effective at all? By the time I'm at the clinic tomorrow it will be at least 90-100 hours, so is it worth taking the pills? any advice is appreciated.

I'm almost positive that the Morning-After Pill is only good for 72 hrs. Obviously, it is the most effective the sooner it is taken after unprotected IC. But to be completely sure, I'd still go to the doctor/clinic and ask. If you don't mind me asking, why did you wait so long to decide to take the pill?

Hi sweethoney10o4, welcome!

EC is less effective after 72 hours but is still somewhat effective for up to 5 days. If I were you I would think it worth a try. Look at the EC site at: http://ec.princeton.edu/ for more information. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Thanks for the info. I didn't exactly want to wait till the last minute to go to the clinic, it wasn't really in my hands at the time. I ended up taking the EC pills an hour after the 72 hours had past, but hopefully it will be effective. I'm a little worried about the side effects. Thanks again
