Period after stopping BCP

As of my last period, 6/23, I stopped my BCP. I have always been regular before BCP and while on BCP, yet I have not started my period yet. I also had my son 10mo. ago and breastfeed until he was 4mo. old. I am curious if all of these factors could be affecting the fact that I have not started my period yet. I know that some women who stop BCP take a while to get regular. Please let me know the norm and whether or not I should be concerned. Thanks, Jen

It's very common for the first period after pill use to be late! Some women will ovulate on their normal schedule when they stop taking the pill, some will be a couple of weeks later, and some women won't start ovulating for a month or two.

If you know that you've been using a reliable contraceptive and you're just concerned because things seem a little off-kilter, try not to worry! I know it's hard. If you're late, you can always take a pregnancy test to reassure yourself. And if it's been a couple of months and you still don't have regular periods, definitely contact your doctor to see what to do next.

Good luck!
