Well, we changed our benefit plan at work. Almost all bc was covered on my old plan but now the only thing that will be covered, I believe, is Ortho Trycycline. Anyway, I have been on Aviane for a month and I didn't start a new pack yet because I'm on my sugar pill week. I was going to go over to the drug store for a refill, but can't now becasue it will not be covered. I am due for a gyn. visit so I wasn't going to start on anything new until I see her. I took the pill for only one month. Is it safe to go off of it so soon since I've only been on it for a month? I don't want to totally screw up my system going off and on the pill. Thanks!

Well for one thing you can continue to take the pill you are on now...just pay for it without insurance covering the cost. It will probably cost about $30. This way you're still covered against pregnancy until you go see the gyno. Espcially since getting an appt can be like pulling teeth.

Also, if you really don't want to pay for it and stop taking the pill, your body shouldn't have any problems going back to normal. Just make sure you let the gyno know when you go for the appt. what you've done so she's aware.

Hey! good idea, I didn't even think of that. $30 isn't too bad. Do you know anything about the patch? I have a problem with gaining weight while on the pill, and I'm wondering if the path is low dose? I might ask my gyn. about that when I go for the appt. But I have to see if its covered first or if she has any samples. Thanks!

If you could,I'd pay for it myself and not file insurance-if you stop now you might have breakthrough bleeding....then when you go to your dr you could get a new rx and maybe not have so many problems.....
