Pain with intercourse with Mirena

Hi,
I'm new here. I have twins that will be 5 months old next week and had a Mirena IUD inserted about 2 months ago. I have had irregular bleeding which is annoying but I hear will go away. I have also had pain with intercourse since it was inserted. I am married, monogomous and about as sexually active as one would think a new mother of twins would be but it is extremely painful when it happens. The pain feels like it is deep inside, from my cervix possibly. I was reading about pelvic inflammatory disease and I have no other symptoms but is it possible to get PID and only have pain? Has anyone else experience this?
Thanks!

You should not be having pain from IC with an IUD inserted. Can you feel the strings? If I were you I'd talk with my doctor as soon as possible. As far as the irregular bleeding is concerned, that is quite common and will usually go away in time. Let us know what your doc. says, ok?

It's a good thing that you can feel the strings. If the pain you are having is the same as you had when you were pg then I wouldn't think it is an infection. Your doctor should be able to tell you though. Is DH hitting your cervix? That can be painful.

Jill
