Diaphragm problem, please help!

I recently got a diaphgram, it's great except for one thing. It now smells funny. I use it properly and always clean it well with soap and water and dry it off. I tried using baking soda because that is supposed to get rid of odors, but it didn't work. If anyone has had this problem or knows how to fix it the help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

For the proper care of latex diaphragms avoid contact with heat, light, petroleum products, newspaper or any chemicals as they may destroy the latex. Latex barriers will sometimes develop an odor after prolonged wearing. For cleaning, soak the diaphragm for 10 minutes only in bleach, rubbing alcohol or white vinegar. For more extensive cleaning dilute the bleach to about 1:3 and soak for only 1/2 an hour max. The alcohol and vinegar are not diluted. Using rubbing alcohol or bleach would be best if you have had a history of infection. If your diaphragm is made of silicone rubber (Milex is the only silicone diaphragm available in the U.S.) it can be boiled for 20 minutes to clean it. Do NOT boil a latex diaphragm. Boiling will destroy latex. After cleaning wash with an oil free mild soap, dry it carefully and dust lightly with cornstarch. Do not use talcum or other powders. Let us now how these methods work for you, ok?

Good luck,
