Blood clots from birth control

I started taking Desogen last month. So far, I have experienced the typical side effects of the pill. However, recently, I have been having a "dull ache" in my calf muscle of my right leg for three days off and on the past week but no swelling or anything else. The "ache" lasts from anywhere from an hour to 3 to four hours. I am, admittedly, a bit of a hypochondriac, and wanted to make sure that this was not related to possibly having a blood clot in my leg from the pills. I have also been traveling and my diet and work out schedule have been completely off. However, I just wanted to know how one would know if they did get a blood clot from taking the pill? I know the chance of it is minimal, but I need to know. Thanks.

Hi bratfina2004, welcome!

A young, healthy, nonsmoking woman is very unlikely to have a blood clot from taking hormonal contraceptives. If I were you and still concerned I'd talk with my doctor. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Okay, thanks. I think I may be on the paranoid side, but I just needed more information on the whole subject. I don't have health insurance and can't afford to go into the doctors EVERYTIME I may think things are wrong with me. I think I might be stressing out a little too. I do hope that things are okay. If it doesn't go away within the week, then I will go to my doctor. Thanks.
