Hi everyone! I'm looking for some IUD info, stories from experience, etc... would you recommend it? Or not? why?

In addition, I exclusively bf dd#3 and I haven't gotten my period back yet... so if I decide t get an iud, how would it be inserted? I think I read something somewhere that said it is inserted during menstration...

I have the paragard (Copper IUD that lasts 10 years). I am very happy with it. I chose it since I didn't like hormones. My first period was heavy and crampy, but since then they are actual lighter but longer. I am hoping that since this is my third cycle my period will get a little shorter. I love never having to think about BC and that if we decide to have kids I can just have it taken out.

The generally put IUDs in during your period since your cervix is more open, however they can be put in at anytime.

Not sure when you had your last child but they recommend waiting until your uterus has returned to its usual size.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

www.mirena.com/

I've had the mirena IUD for 1 year now...Some drs like to insert it on the first day after your period ends...I couldn't get in to see my dr on that day so it was put in on like day 4 I think....I had irregular periods for the first few months (some lasting 2 weeks and coming 2 weeks apart) but after that they went back to normal and got lighter and lighter until now I basicly spot when I have a period.I don't have one each month. That's somewhat normal for some women after 1year.....
