BTB- How long does it last?

I started taking Desogen about a month ago and should be on the "spacer" pills this week. However, since I will be on vacation soon, a nurse practitioner said that it might work to skip my period if I took the packs back to back. However, I have been having BTB for four days now and am concerned as to how long it typically lasts. Will it continue to do this until I finish this pack of pills??
She suggested taking 800mgs of Ibuprofen every 8 hours to try to stop or decrease it but I haven't seen any changes.
Also, is the blood from the BTB supposed be brownish in color? It is typical to when I am finishing up a normal period. Thanks.

Most users take three or four cycles for their bodies to become adjusted to the hormones in a new pill. It is typical for light irregular bleeding to be old, brown, blood that has had enough time for the iron in it to oxidize before it appears as discharge. It's impossible to say when your bleeding will stop since it's a function of the hormones in your pills and your body chemistry. If you are still adjusting to your pills I would think it unlikely that you will be able to skip your period by taking the actives back-to-back, but perhaps you can. If I were you I'd plan on taking my supplies on vacation. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
Good luck,
Jill
I am majorly stressing out here. I don't want to have BTB for the entire month.

Jill
I tried skipping my period once while I was on Mircette. I had been on that pill for several months and wasn't having any problems, no BTB. When I skipped the placebo pills and started a new pack, my period started on time anyway, and continued for 2 weeks. And then I had my period again at the normal time at the end of that pack. So at least for me, the plan really backfired. I think maybe if you keep skipping placebo pills for a few months your body gets used to it and you can actually avoid bleeding, but the first time didn't work out for me and I didn't try it again.
