Pill and Sex Drive

I am having some problems finding a BC pill that will not lower my sex drive, so that I do not even ever want to have sex. My bfriend and I are going through some problems b/c I do not want to have sex as much as before. I am currently taking Mircette. I have heard similar stories from others and heard that the patch has worked wonders in increasing sex drive, or not decreasing it as much. I was wondering if anyone has similar results or any pill that did not result in a decreased sex drive as a side effect. Thanks in advance for any info!

HI! I have been on several brands of pills. Not until I quit taking oral contraceptives did I realize it killed my sex drive! Thinking back, pills with a low progestin activity (like OTC) had more of a negative effect on my sex drive then those with a high progestin activity (like Estropstep or Loestrin); though both did effect it. Here is a link that list some pills and their progestin activity http://www.fpnotebook.com/GYN115.htm

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I've never been on oral contraceptives, but I have been on the patch for about five months. The first two months I had very little sex drive, but it has come back now that my body has adjusted to the hormones. I'm sure my drive would be even greater if I was not on hormones at all, but for me, it's a small price to pay for protection. Even though I have a sex drive, sometimes I have a hard time getting my body to respond (aka I want sex, but I produce no lubrication). So, my suggestion would be to try the patch for three-four months and see if that helps.
