The first day of my last period was July 31. It was over on Aug 3 with some light spotting the following 2 nights. On the 6th the condom broke when we had sex in the morning. I got plan B and took the first pill at 3:30 that same day and the second at 3:30 Sat morning(the 7th) So I did what I was supposed to but I have felt so sick. Terrible backache and cramps. Headache the whole nine yards. Has anyone else had these symptoms? Alot of the posts I have read seem to show that others arent having these problems. Also has anyone ended up pregnant after taking plan B. I am somewhat regretting taking it now. Thanks!!!

Why do you regret taking Plan B now?

I have never taken a morning after pill (I haven't had to yet, thank goodness.) But I am fairly sure that it is very effective at preventing pregnancy, especially if taken as soon after unprotected IC as you did. Those symptoms you are having may be side effects of the pill. If you are really worried, you should contact your doctor and get everything checked out, just to make sure and give yourself peace of mind. Good luck!

I did call the clinic that I got the pills from and spoke to a doctor there. She told me that my symptoms are not from the plan B. She said that it must be something different and it is just coincedence. I find it funny though that everything was fine untill I took those pills. The reason I regret taking it is first because of feeling so bad but more so for the fact that I think it was a rushed decision. I am married and have 2 children, my husband and I have thought we were done but now I wonder what if it was meant to be. I wanted my tubes tied after my daughter but my doctor at the time refused because he felt I was to young. Maybe that was a sign.....maybe I am just to emotional right now ..LOL!!!!!

They said those symptoms -can't- be from Plan B? Are they nuts? (only half kidding) Seriously, there are so many parts of our bodies that respond to steroid hormones like those in the pill, including progestins, I'd find it tough to say that everything except for bleeding and nausea (the most typical side effects) can't be related. We know that women who are taking the pill can get headaches, and while typically people say that's from the estrogen, I don't think I'd rule it out (all commonly prescribed combination pills have the same synthetic estrogen--it's got to have something to do with the progestin at least some of the time). And I know that sometimes when I've got bad PMS I get back pain and cramps, I'd presume that's also hormonal, and that's at a high-progesterone phase in my cycle (still happens even with hormonal contraception sometimes).

If it were me, I'd still chalk it up to the Plan B and hope that things are better in a couple of days. It is a big shock to your system, but so would be a pregnancy, as you know.

I know it's probably not much consolation, but I don't think I'd sweat taking Plan B this time. If you felt you rushed the decision to take Plan B, wouldn't you have rushed a decision to not take it just as much? Why not, if you and your husband are ready to have another one, take some time, start on prenatal vitamins, go for a prenatal checkup and talk to your ob, and then figure out when's a good time to start working on another beautiful healthy baby? You'd know in your heart that you and your family were ready and it wouldn't have just been a blessed accident, but something you really planned and embraced from the first minutes.

Sorry if that's too personal! But I'd wager your side effects could be from the Plan B, regardless of what a nurse says. Not that I know any better, but it certainly makes sense to me too. Good luck!

Judie you were not to personal at all, thank so much for your response. I do feel better today thank god. The "doctor" I spoke to yesterday told me that there is not any estrogen in those pills which didnt sound right to me. I guess I am looking at it as though she had no idea what she was talking about. Anywho, you right if it is time for one more then we will decide to try again if not then we will put this behind us. I feel like ovulation is at the doorstep so I think pregnancy is out of the question anyway.
