Im on ortho cyclen and when I went to the dr today I told them about my mood swings so they suggested I switch and they put me on mircette. and they told me that i should start it just as though i were still on the ortho, but i reminded myself that im gonna be on vacation later this month when im supposed to have my period. and i wanted to continue taking the pill so that i could skip my period. but now im wondering if i can start the mircette the next day after i stop taking the ortho.

Hi eeyore_n_tink, welcome!

If you can put up with the mood swings for a while longer you have a better chance of delaying your period by continuing on Ortho Cyclen until after your vacation. Changing pills can sometimes bring on irregular bleeding as a side effect until your body adjusts to the new hormones. Let us know how you're doing, ok?

Good luck,

Yeah, the problem is now that I get my pills from my local planned parenthood. So i dont really know if they're going to want to accomodate my vacation. Is there some other place I can get 1 pack from without having to go back to them?

Since BCPs are an Rx med. You would have to have an established relationship with another doctor. I'd ask PP, perhaps they will... or your local public health clinic, but they may not have Ortho Cyclen... It won't hurt to ask...

Good luck,
