and am really torn up about it.

The thing is, I have really bad periods again, very heavy. By "again" I mean that I have had problems in the past, have had a couple of hysteroscopies/D&Cs to remove polyps and fibroids...

Anyway... I am looking into a procedure called an endometrial ablation. I guess the idea is to actually burn the lining of the uterus or something like that. (I did read about it, I just don't feel like getting into the details right now!) Anyway... in order to have this done, the woman has to be sure that she CANNOT get pg ever again.

Well... DH has made the decision not to have anymore children for a couple of reasons. I agree with them... though I haven't made peace with it just yet... and probably never will. (Finances present a problem... and more importantly, my health -- after having very difficult pgcies... including a miscarriage... and a very severe case of PPD after my 2 year old was born... I just can't risk another pgcy.)

So... on Monday I have an appt with my ob/gyn to discuss the Essure procedure and the ablation. This is so difficult for me... but something has to be done. I cannot take the BCP, I have tried it in the past and had a lot of troubles. I don't want to try it again.

Yes, my husband is willing to go through the big V. However, I have an issue (from the PPD) that just makes me want to take care of this myself. Don't ask me why... it's just something about which I feel very strongly.

Has anyone here done the Essure procedure? I already know what it entails. Just wondering how someone has felt after having it done.

Hi there! Glad to see you, but sorry it's not under better circumstances... Here's a post from a member who came back to tell us how her procedure went:

We haven't had too many women come around asking for Essure information, and even fewer who come back to tell us how it went (just this one, I think), but maybe that's an indication that it isn't causing problems for women?

I hope this all works for you...it sounds like a lot to go through just to live a "normal" life as a woman. Best of luck to you, please let us know how things go?
