What method do I use?

I have been on trivora (generic triphasil) for almost 2 months now. Since the first week of using it I have had a terrible breakout on my chin that won't clear up. I have mood swings and feel generally fatigued and crappy. I want to eat everything in sight. I just got my weight under control and lost close to 60lbs in the past year and a half and want to lose another 10 and I feel this is preventing me. I also just got my mood and depression straigtened out with Wellbutrin XL and I felt great before starting trivora. Now I feel down again. I really don't want to use anything with hormones but on reading up on IUD's it says most Dr's don't recommend them to women who have had no children. I am 34 and have no children. My next gyno appt is september 3 and I don't know if i should talk to him about another low dose pill or possibly the copper IUD. i have heard good things about Yasmine and will talk with him about that I guess. Any suggestions?

Hey Meow,

I started the NuvaRing just about three weeks ago and so far it is great. I like the fact that I don't even think about it. It is the lowest dosage you can get. Plus you don't have to worry about going to a Dr. to have it removed if you ever do decide to have children. I actually feel like I am normal. When I was on the Pill, no matter the dosage, I felt like I was coming apart at the seams. I would cry and get mad for no reason and it really bothered me and my husband.

Look into the NuvaRing as a possibility www.nuvaring.com

Hope this helps you some.

I was thinking of that too. Is it hard to insert? That's what I feel like i am coming apart. And I feel bloating and like I am porking out with water and eating and craving too much junk. thanks for your reply.

It is really easy to insert... It is just a thin, flexible, and clear, 2 inch ring. I don't feel it at all. I don't know about sex, my husband is still in Korea and won't be home until Sept.

I have noticed a small amount of acne, but it seems to be going away and getting better.

Also NuvaRing.com has a feature to download onto your desktop to remind you to change your ring! Talk about being convenient.

I had problems with Triphasil too, lots of them! But I've been a happy ring user for over a year and a half. I have NuvaTime on my computer at home, it's an "hourglass" that will tell me where I'm at if I've forgotten (easy to do, let me tell you!). It's easy to insert, I've even heard of a woman using a tampon applicator to put one in, but that's not necessary. It's way easier than the pill, and it allows more flexibility for when to have your period, as the ring can be left in for 3 or 4 weeks, and you can skip periods with it (in theory) just like the pill.

As far as sex goes, we don't feel it very often. If it is bothersome, you can remove it for up to 3 hours, just don't forget to put it back in!

I do break out occasionally, but it's nothing that an over-the-counter acne treatment doesn't help. I had some horrible cystic acne with Triphasil, and as soon as I stopped taking it that went away.

You never know, your doctor might agree to an IUD, but if you liked the ring...

Good luck, let us know what you decide!

That sounds like what i have. Cystic acne. Its like little bumps all over my chin and around my mouth but they are not actually zits because there is no white pus. Its like a small blister. They start to look like they might be starting to heal and drying up and then the next minute they are red and inflamed again. Man you don't know how bad I want to stop this crappy pill before sept. 3rd but with my luck I'll end up pregnant between then and now. i think I will give the ring a try first before the IUD. Well i will talk to Dr and see what he says. Maybe he will just tell me to go with and IUD.
