If anyone could give me some info on the birth control Ovcon? I have been on almost every kind of birth control there is and i have problems with them all. My dr. gave me a prescription for the pill Ovcon and i was wondering what makes this pill so special. Any info good or bad would be greatfully appreciated.

I'm on Ovcon 35 right now, after switching from OTC-Lo. When my doctor first prescribed it I also had no idea what it was, but I've done a little research. Ovcon 35 (I assume you're on 35, because 50 is rarely prescribed) is one of the older BC pills, and one that many other brands use as their "jumping off point" or whatnot, meaning that they use Ovcon's hormonal basis as theirs as well, with some minor changes (for example, a different amount of progesterine). Ovcon 35 has .035mg of ethinyl estradiol and .4mg of norethindrone, with 21 active pills and 7 inactive pills. It is a lesser-known brand merely because they don't do the advertising that, say, Ortho-Tri Cyclen does. So far the pill has been working well for me, with only some minor side effects so far in the second pack of pills. If a lot of the pills don't work for you (provided you gave each pill the 3-4 trial months to get all the side effects straightened out), you might want to try NuvaRing (hormonal) or a non-horomonal contraceptive method such as a diaphragm or the non-hormonal IUD. Good luck, and I hope this was helpful!
Oh thanks that was so helpful. I hope this one works, i was on nuvaring and i just couldn't take it. It caused me bad cramps, i had no sexual energy at all, and boy was i moody. So he put me on the ovcon. I will keep my fingers crossed that this stuff works.
Thanks,
