Hi ladies its my first time using a message board.

I am 20 years old and I have been sexually active for a good couple of years now. I am

in a relationship with a guy that I know I am going to be with for awhile. We don't use any form of birth control at all. No condems....just the good ol' pulling out method. We have both been tested and we know that we don't have any sort of STD's. Is there still any way I could get pregant?

Withdrawal is NOT an effective method of birth control. You can absolutely get pregnant that way. If you want to avoid pregnancy, then you need to be using some form of birth control. You are taking a huge risk.

Men pre-ejaculate before they reach full climax, and this pre-ejaculate contains sperm. Also, when pulling out, it is quite easy to not pull out soon enough. Ejaculate contains tons of sperm and all it takes is 1 sperm to make contact with an egg for a pregnancy to occur.

Look into your BC options and decide what is right for you. Please do not rely on withdrawal.

YES YES YES!!! You most definitely CAN get pregnant when you don't use ANY form of birth control! You know how there is some discharge that comes out of his penis before he ejaculates? That contains sperm! The entire time you are having sex, he is depositing all of that into you. Pulling out is NOT an effective method of "birth control." Please explore this website/message board for birth control options. We're all here to help you if you have any questions about ANYTHING. In the meantime, use condoms!

HI....I started taking birth control here just a few months ago. My bf and I had used the withdrawl method for at least 6 months before I started bc again. We (thank god) didnt end up with a baby...But I think that when I started taking bc again it seem to make us feel a lot better about having sex and wondering if we where going to have a baby cause of it. We want to have kids but when we are ready. If I where you I would look into getting on some bc or something....GOOD LUCK.....Hope this helps

I just looked up the failure rate for withdrawal, and while it's better than nothing, the typical-use failure rate is 19%. So out of 100 couple-cycles (menstrual cycles) in one year, 19 couples will get pregnant using withdrawal typically (not perfectly). Perfect use obviously is better, but there are so many factors required for PERFECT withdrawal...

Any other method except for no method or periodic abstinence (this does not include FAM/NFP or even the calendar method) will provide you better protection against pregnancy. Even just using a spermicide will help, but the typical failure rate there is still higher than 10%. For comparison's sake, perfect use of condoms has a failure rate of about 4-6%, and perfect use of the pill has a failure rate of about 0.5%.

Do some reading! You might find something you like that will protect you better...

Definitely! I'm about to start taking BC for 2 reasons: 1. to regulate my somewhat irregular periods, and 2. because my bf and I didn't want to worry as much about pregnancy! We don't get to be with each other all that often, but like my Dr said, it only takes one time, so, I would get another form of BC if I were you. I would say that you are pretty lucky that you haven't gotten pregnant yet, but maybe I just know a lot of unlucky girls who have ended up having babies when they weren't ready.

Hope this helps!
