heat and birth control

I just had my first child and am about to start birth control again, I went and picked my birth control up at the pharmacy and then left it out in the car for about 3 days before remembering it was in there, it was about 100 degrees out all three days and now I am not sure if it is safe to take the pills, I definately do not want to get pregnant again any time too soon. Does anyone know if heat ruins birth control pills? A quick reply would be real helpful ;o) thank you!

My doctor told me it wouldn't affect them to be left in heat, like in my car or something. Of course, the packaging says different, so if you are worried about it, I would call your Dr and ask him/her. I personally don't like leaving Rx's in the car, just because I know they can become lethal or ineffective, so in my opinion, BC is the same. Hope this helps!

Hi k12kuuipo, welcome!

Heat can definitely ruin birth control pills! The question is, how much heat? It would be a good idea to ask your pharmacist and get a professional opinion, but if I were you I would NOT take the pills left in a very hot car for 3 days.

Good luck,
