I've been on the pill for about 4 1/2 years now (I'm on the Enpresse pill right now). I don't tend to be really accurate about taking my pill at exactly the same time every day (I'm sure sometimes it can vary more than 2 hours from my average time). 11 days after my last period began (the 9th pill of the month), I was probly about 13-14 hours late on my pill. That's the only time I can clearly remember being seriously off on taking the pill. My husband had left for a week beginning that morning and we'd had unprotected sex many times in the days leading up to that.
About 7 days after the "late pill", I started feeling like I might be pregnant. It started with me feeling exhausted a lot during the day and also getting an occasional dizzy spill and also a lot of headaches. Then about 10 days after the "late pill", I started feeling a little nauseous. The nausea got more and more common over the next few days but I also started getting hungry more often during the day. Finally, today, 3 days before my period is due, I could take it no longer and took a pregnancy test and it came up negative.
So I'm married and it's not gonna upset me too much if I'm pregnant, but I'm really anxious not knowing. I just wanna know if anyone can tell me if I'm just being nutso or if there actually is a chance I could be pregnant?
Obviously, there's not much I can do right now, but I figure if the period doesn't come on time, I'll take another pregnancy test the next morning.
Anyways, thanks for any help/advice,
Susan

No method is 100% effective except abstinence so there is always a chance of pregnancy. This board considers taking a combined pill on time to be +/-2 hours of your normal pill time. Being 13-14 hours late is considered a missed pill. Generally taking you pill at irregular times isn't a good idea. Assuming you were protected at least until you missed your pill on CD11 and the intercourse of concern occurred on or before that day you may be ok. I say that because even if your miss on CD11 triggered ovulation it would take several days to occur. Since sperm can live for only a few hours in unfertile conditions the sperm would be dead by the time you ovulated. If AF doesn't show up on schedule test again. Let us know how you're doing, ok?
