I'm going to be taking Loestrin 1/20 starting tomorrow. Has anyone here that has taken Loestrin 1/20 liked it? I'm mostly concerned with the side effects of depression / moodiness (especially during the week off the pill) as I have had this problem with other pills in the past. I was taking Errin (mini pill), but it provides very little leeway for missed pills.

Hi :)

The first pill my Dr ever put me on was LoEstrin. I think I was on it for about a year before I ever had a problem with it. My personal experience was that *all* hormonal contraceptives disagree with me though, that's just how my body works.

LoEstrin will effect you differently than it will effect everyone else who tries it. I could tell you that I had the best reaction to it and I just loved it, but then you could go and have the worst experience ever; or vise versa. You just never know and it's the same for all other drugs out there. Some people are allergic to pennicillin, some are fine on it; some women find that LoEstrin gave them headaches, some don't.

Good Luck!

Hi! I took Loestrin for a very short time. The good thing about it was that it didnt affect my sex drive as much as other pills and I didnt gain as much weight. It did, however, give me horrible headaches(all oral contraceptives do this to me but this was the worst) and I was moody and anxious. Like Jenn said, everybody is different. You'll just have to give it a couple months to see what happens. Best of luck!

I took Loestrin 1.5/30 (it's got more of both hormones than 1/20) for about four years. The first year or two was all right, but the last two years weren't great, I figured out that I need more estrogen. I didn't have any problems with depression or moodiness, no problems with acne, no headaches, but I did have some problems with dry skin. Later on the dry skin turned into sensitivity to fragrances (I couldn't get a doctor to verify that they were related, but as soon as I switched that stopped) and I started having problems with severe vaginal dryness and painful intercourse.

Good luck--you might love it! And if you don't, there are plenty of other options...
