SEASONALE AND SMOKING

I currently take Seasonale for my birth control... it says under warnings "Smoking cigarettes while using this medication increases your chance of having heart problems. Do not smoke. The risk of heart problems increases with age (especially in women greater than 35 years of age) and with frequent smoking (15 cigarettes per day or greater)"
I am not a chain smoker and I smoke nowhere close to 15 cigarettes a day. I don't even smoke everyday and when I do smoke it is never anymore than 3 (a day) I go for weeks at a time without smoking. So I only do it occasionally. I was just wondering if anyone thinks this could still pose a serious threat to my health? I know it isn't good for me to smoke but what I am asking is do you think combined with the birth control that it could make things worse? If anyone has any thoughts on this I would be glad to hear them. Thanks!

The short answer is, yes. Just how much worse no one can say. It will depend on your age, lifestyle, health, and body chemistry among other things as to exactly how seriously you might be affected. Ideally, you should stop smoking, but you already know that.
Good luck,
Jill
Congratulations and good luck!
