Okay here's the deal...I've been on BCP for almost 2 years now. I was originally on Ortho TriCyclen and they switched me to the lo but I was having breakthrough bleeding after intercourse so they switched me back to the regular one and was fine with that one. Well in January my insurance started giving me the generic Trinessa. The only time I had breakthough after that was when I skipped my placebo pills to change my cycle about 2 months ago. Well last week I had some dark brown breakthrough after intercourse and then 4 days later I had some pink spotting. I talked to the nurse today and she said it could be becuz of the generic pills plus if I've been under any stress (which I have) so just to keep an eye on it and let her know if it happens again and they will make sure that I only use brand name BCP. The thing is people keep telling me I should get an early pg test to make sure I'm not pregnant. I just think I should wait till my period's due (Aug. 23) and then test IF it doesn't come. Any thoughts?

If you have been Taking TriNessa correctly you are probably fine. If you don't feel the need to take a PT unless Aunt Flow comes up missing, there is nothing wrong with that. Actually, I think it's commendable that you aren't panicking when there is no reason to. Good for you!
Hugs,
Jill
I had another episode of breakthrough last night after intercourse. I had thought that it was just bringing my period on early, but that wasn't the case. I only bled for a little while and it was over. I thought about calling my doc today but I didn't. I'm going to see what happens with my regular period.

You have been on TriNessa long enough now that your body should have adjusted to the hormones. If a pattern of bleeding after IC is developing you might want to have your doc check Just to make sure everything is physically ok and that you don't have a small growth that is being irritated by IC or something. If you are physically ok, and you don't mind the spotting there shouldn't be a need to change pills.
Good luck,
Jill
